December 2009 News

Hello Western NY!!!
I cannot believe how close we are to the end of the semester! Hope you are having a positive semester and looking forward to the winter break!
On Friday, November 6, Cazenovia College was our gracious host for a district breakfast focusing on creative confrontation. About 20 of our regional delegates came out to discuss how we confront staff and students; the discussions were very lively! It was great to connect with some folks from Cortland State, Ithaca College, LeMoyne, Tompkins Cortland Community College, and our hosts from Cazenovia.

Additionally, on November 21, SUNY Cortland was one of the host sites for the RD2B conference. The students in attendance had a great time and learned a lot from each other and their mentors. Thanks so much to Cortland and the New Professionals Development Committee for hosting this great event in our district!

Goals 2009-2010

1. Tie into the NEACUHO facebook page and invite WNY members to utilize it to share information on speakers, training sessions or other events that might be of interest to other WNY members

2. Survey region on topics for issue breakfast, etc.

To date through the Navigator and district emails and events I have spoken with several individuals about possible future topics.

3. Look at existing events in regions that we might tie socials into, i.e. work with RIT and possibly add a regional social to the WNY placement exchange

We will be helping to sponsor WNYPE

4. Host at least 3 issue breakfasts around the WNY region

In late September, RIT hosted  the Rochester area housing directors Supervision workshop

In early November,  Cazenovia College hosted a breakfast with a focus on Creative Confrontation issues

5. Look at ways to involve community college members more in NEACUHO and invest in membership

I am currently serving on the ACUHO-I Community College Task Force which is looking at how to better serve the needs of community college members
