This workshop will equip college professionals to recognize, understand, and respond to student food insecurity—an often invisible challenge affecting up to 3 in 5 students. Grounded in my research and practice, we will explore the root causes of campus hunger, learn how to identify and support students who may be struggling, and examine effective, stigma-reducing approaches to intervention.
The session will highlight best practices for developing and sustaining campus responses, including food pantries, meal access programs, and partnerships that expand resource networks such as SNAP. Participants will leave with tools to create actionable strategies to strengthen student support, promote belonging and dignity, and improve retention, well-being, and overall student success.
